Dear ASHP Members:

As I begin my term as President of the American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry, I am filled with optimism that our membership will continue to grow from our 1,800 members to over 2,500.
Our organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to foster multi-disciplinary collaborations in the field of mental health. The American Society of Hispanic Psychiatry has a membership of Hispanic mental health professionals from Europe, Latin America, the United States and the Caribbean.
Established in the early 1960’s by a small group of Latino mental health professionals, we have continued to grow. Yearly, our members convene prior to the APA to present, share and exchange new research methods and other exciting breakthroughs in the field of mental health.
Our effort to expand our mission and deliver our message has resulted in many wonderful conferences and projects. Our newsletter is distributed to our membership twice a year. In addition our website at www.ashp.us.com which is in both English and Spanish contains information in regards to other potential job opportunities at many institutions, relevant news articles and upcoming events. Please take a moment and review our site.
It is our hope that once you have read through our material, you will join us a new member!
Without the recruitment of new members and their support through the payment of our nominal dues of $75.00, our organization could not grow and survive.
Below you will find our membership application for your convenience. Please complete and mail it along with your check to the address listed. We will mail you a receipt that may be used for tax purposes.
If you have any additional questions, you can contact our Secretariat, Maria C. Sciancalepore by phone 732-690-4507 or email mscianc@ashp.us.com.
I am looking forward to a year of success and many new initiatives.
Best regards,
Maria Oquendo, M.D.
